Dentist Nabbed With 100 Canisters of Laughing Gas After Police Chase
Most dentists use nitrous oxide to help their patients relaxโbut one Houston dentist apparently preferred to keep it all for himself.
Christopher Michael Pedlar, 39, was arrested after leading police on a brief chase through Houston, only to be caught with more than 100 canisters of nitrous oxideโbetter known as laughing gasโstashed in his car. And if that wasnโt bad enough, Pedlar reportedly admitted he likes inhaling it while driving.
The chase began when officers spotted Pedlar speeding down West 19th Street, going 44 mph in a 30 mph zone. Instead of pulling over, he kept going for about half a mile before finally stopping. When police searched his car, they discovered 107 canisters of nitrous oxide.
โHe admitted it. He said he has a problem,โ said Houston Police Constable Alan Rosen.
Pedlar, who was already out on a $5,000 bond in a separate case, was hit with charges of eluding police and possession of volatile chemicals. A judge set his bond at $10,000, and he was ordered to undergo treatment.
