Many fans would be starstruck if they met Ariana Grande, but Ari says she gets starstruck, too. In fact, when she was invited to meet her idol, she was convinced it was a plot to kill her.
Speaking to W magazine, Ariana says, “Imogen Heap is my idol—my number one favorite musician, songwriter, producer of all time. The first time I got a message from her, I thought I was being catfished.”
Imogen Heap is a British singer/songwriter who’s probably best known in the U.S. for her 2005 song “Hide and Seek,” which was used in the TV show The O.C. and sampled by Jason Derulo in his song “Whatcha Say.” She also co-wrote and produced Taylor Swift‘s song “Clean” from 1989 and reproduced it for the Taylor’s Version of that album.
Anyway, back to Ariana’s story. She tells W that Heap “invited me over, and I thought I was being trapped [and] I was going to be murdered because I didn’t believe it was real.” Ariana even brought her mom with her — just in case. But of course, she says that Heap “was so nice. She’s brilliant in every way.”
In the same interview, Ariana also reveals that she’s such a fan of the reality show Love Is Blind that she’ll “go to Instagram and find these people and make sure they’re still together.”
And while she admits that she “cries at everything,” she also reveals that in particular the Adam Sandler film The Waterboy makes her cry. The Wicked star explains, “When they’re mean to Bobby Boucher, I cry. I don’t like it. I love Bobby Boucher.”
