‘Empty Beer Cans’ Artwork Mistakenly Scrapped By Museum Staff
A piece of contemporary art at a Dutch museum was mistakenly tossed out by a lift technician who thought it was just trash. The artwork, titled “All The Good Times We Spent Together” by French artist Alexandre Lavet, is a pair of meticulously hand-painted beer cans meant to symbolize moments of friendship.
The display was set up in a glass lift shaft, which made it look like it had been left behind by construction workers. Despite the artwork’s fine details and realistic appearance, it was mistaken for refuse and discarded.
Museum officials, however, have embraced the blunder as a testament to the effectiveness of Lavet’s work. After being retrieved and cleaned, the piece has been placed on a plinth near the museum entrance—safe from any future confusion.
