New Interviewing Trend: The Rise of the Interview and Hire Swap
A man took to Reddit to share how he noticed that the new hire in his company looked and sounded completely different from the person interviewed. Despite this drastic change in appearance and accent, none of his colleagues or supervisors seemed to notice or care. The poster was left puzzled by the situation, especially as his supervisors, who had conducted the interviews, didn’t express any concern. This sparked discussions online about how closely employers pay attention during the hiring process.
One user shared that, in a company of 30,000, three or four people had been caught using this tactic in the past year. Another commenter shared that companies should start taking screenshots of the original interviews to verify identities. Someone else highlighted an experience where a capable candidate interviewed by video turned out to be a completely different person— he had interviewed a woman, but a man showed up for day one of work. This seems to be bizarre that is becoming more common.
