Car Rolls Into River as Couple Gets Distracted in the Back Seat
Out of Philadelphia, a romantic moment turned into a wet and wild rescue when a couple’s SUV rolled into the Schuylkill River while they were in the back seat. The couple, enjoying an intimate moment in their 2020 Range Rover, accidentally shifted the gear into drive, sending the vehicle rolling toward the river in Fairmount Park around 4:15 a.m.
Before they could react, the car plunged over the edge near the Strawberry Mansion Bridge and began sinking into the river. Fortunately, both the man and woman were able to escape before the vehicle was fully submerged, but not before taking an embarrassing swim to safety.
Witnesses reported seeing the car’s headlights glowing beneath the water, casting an eerie green light until the fire department arrived. The vehicle, a white Range Rover, was finally pulled from the river around 9 a.m., leaving the couple with quite the story—and a soaked SUV.
