Karate Expert Breaks Jaw of Haunted House ‘Ghost,’ Claims It Was Self-Defense
Back in 2011, a group of coworkers visited the Toei Kyoto Studio Park in Japan, where they decided to brave the haunted house attraction. Among them was a karate expert, who got more than just a scare when a ghostly figure jumped out at the group. Reacting on instinct, the karate master delivered a powerful kick to the “ghost,” breaking his jaw.
The incident escalated to a lawsuit, with the karate expert attempting to shift the blame onto the amusement park. However, the Osaka High Court wasn’t convinced. The court ruled in favor of the park, stating, “Unlike within the story of a movie or TV show, the ‘ghosts’ are not actually attacking the customers, so there is no need for them to physically fight back.”
It seems even in haunted houses, not all scares are created equal.
