HASTINGS, Minn. – A 19-year-old Bloomington man will spend six months in jail for selling fentanyl that led to the April 2022 overdose death of a 15-year-old girl in West St. Paul.
Parker Benson was sentenced Thursday in Dakota County after pleading guilty to third-degree murder. Prosecutors were seeking a six-plus-year prison sentence for Benson.
“The sentencing is unfortunate and a disappointment as a young girl lost her life due to the actions of Mr. Benson,” county attorney Kathy Keena said.
Benson admitted to selling fentanyl-laced pills to the victim when he was 17.
