Real Life ‘Thelma & Louise’ Ends in High-Speed Chase Off New York Cliff
In a dramatic turn of events in Southold, New York, a high-speed chase took a startling plunge when the driver drove his vehicle off a 100-foot cliff and into Long Island Sound. Despite the gravity-defying crash, the driver managed to survive, emerging from the car with complaints of pain but no visible injuries.
The chase began when police responded to a domestic violence call, initiating a 45-minute pursuit that reached speeds exceeding 100 mph. The driver, Roger Foster, a 56-year-old resident of The Villages in Florida, made a daring leap off the cliff without hitting the brakes or slowing down, landing the car in just five feet of water.
After the crash, Foster was promptly taken into custody and charged with a slew of offenses, including second-degree criminal contempt, third-degree criminal mischief, unlawful fleeing, and various traffic violations.
Earlier that day, Foster had allegedly slashed a tire on his ex-wife’s vehicle, which was parked at her workplace in Southold’s municipal building, before fleeing the scene. The bizarre series of events has left both authorities and onlookers stunned, with Foster’s fate now in the hands of the legal system.
They say you can’t run away from your problems, but Foster sure tried — at 100 mph, no less! Guess he misunderstood the old saying, “Take the plunge and get over her.” Word of advice: that usually doesn’t involve actual cliffs!
