In a concerning incident at Volcano Vista High School in New Mexico back in 2022, a teacher is now facing legal repercussions after bringing swords to a chemistry class and encouraging students to engage in combat. The shocking episode, captured on camera, has resulted in a lawsuit filed by the family of a student who sustained a major cut and had to seek emergency medical treatment.
The teacher’s purported explanation, as per an incident report, claimed that the swords were brought to discuss the science of metal and melding. However, it took a surreal turn when the assistant principal, also named as a defendant in the lawsuit, reportedly denied that the injury violated school rules.
I’m guessing the words “sword fight” were a segment left out of the syllabus!
