GRAND FORKS CO. (KFGO) – Two men were seriously injured in a crash on I-29 about 2 miles south of Grand Forks shortly after 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
The State Patrol says an SUV driven by an 81-year-old man from Devils Lake and a second SUV driven by a 54-year-old man from Thompson, North Dakota were southbound in the left lane on the interstate. For an unknown reason, the first SUV was traveling well below the posted speed limit. The second SUV struck the rear end of the first one.
The first SUV came to rest in the median. The second SUV went across both southbound lanes of the interstate before stopping.
Both drivers were transported to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks with serious injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
