WASHINGTON (KFGO) – A former Fargo man is among the latest to be arrested and charged in the Jan 6, 2021 insurrection at the US Capitol.
The US Dept. of Justice says 37-year-old Eric Zeis, a 2004 graduate of Fargo South High School, faces felony and misdemeanor charges.
Zeis, of Monument, Colo., and another Colorado man, are charged with obstruction of law enforcement during civil disorder and disorderly and disruptive conduct.
Prosecutors say the pair drove from Colorado to Washington to attend the “Stop the Steal” rally where they and a large group of rioters forced Capitol police to leave their positions to the East Rotunda doors. The charges say they later made their way to varying parts of the Capitol and joined others in confronting officers who were guarding the US House chambers.
In the nearly three years since the insurrection, more than 1,200 people have been charged.
