STILLWATER, MN – The Stillwater state prison was placed on emergency lockdown status Sunday morning after about 100 inmates refused to return to their cells.
The Minnesota Department of Corrections says the situation was resolved without incident and everyone in the unit returned to their cells a few hours later. No injuries were reported.
D-O-C spokesman Andy Skoogman says some of the incarcerated men were upset about modified cell release schedules over the holiday weekend. He says claims about a lack of clean water in the prison are “patently false.”
