ST. PAUL, Minn. (KFGO) – The FBI field office in the Twin Cities and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are warning that the two agencies are the latest to be “spoofed.”
Scammers are calling people claiming that they’re with one of the law enforcement agencies. The phone numbers that are displayed are the general contact numbers of the FBI and BCA.
The scammers claim to be conducting an investigation and often have social security numbers, banking information and addresses to make it appear the calls are legitimate.
Anyone receiving such a call, should ask for a callback number and contact the agency directly.
The FBI number is 763-569-8000. The main number for the BCA is 651-793-7000.
