ST. PAUL, Minn. – While the mosquitoes are out in full force, the good news is that no cases of West Nile virus have been reported in Minnesota.
Alex Carlson with the Metropolitan Mosquito Control District says cases of West Nile virus are likely as we head deeper into summer. He said this is a disease that typically shows up toward the end of the summer, most of the cases are reported in August or early September.
Carlson said mosquitoes contract the virus by feeding on infected birds.
North Dakota reported the state’s first case of West Nile last month.
