MOORHEAD (KFGO) – Roers has announced that tenants in the Moorhead Center Mall have been given notice that operations have to be wrapped up by the end of this year.
Roers owns more than 90% of the mall and plans to negotiate buyouts of the remaining units.
“Plans are moving forward with the downtown Moorhead development,” CEO Jim Roers said. “This first step is to ensure the current businesses have time to find a new location for their business.”
Roers said they have worked alongside tenants and suite owners for the past year to help with relocation options.
“Our goal is to ensure these businesses remain in Moorhead and we are committed to help find a location to best meet their business needs,” Roers said. “The target date balances the needs of the businesses to have time to wind down their operations.”
Roers and the city of Moorhead entered into an agreement in 2019 with an option to buy the property from the city.
The company unveiled its “More to Moorhead” revitalization plan last August, which will lead to the mall property being redeveloped.
