ST. PAUL, Minn. – The State Senate is sending a bill to Gov. Tim Walz that will provide $50 million in emergency rental assistance for struggling Minnesotans.
The measure passed the Senate on a 42-21 vote.
Sen. Lindsey Port of Burnsville said the rate of evictions in Minnesota has skyrocketed in recent months following the lifting of the emergency federal moratorium on evictions.
The funding will be distributed by the Minnesota Family Homelessness Prevention and Assistance Program.
