DULUTH, Minn. – Cirrus Aircraft in Duluth is mourning the death of one of its engineers in a plane crash on the frozen St. Louis River.
Company officials said David Rathbun was a talented, long-time aircraft design engineer and “his passing is a profound loss for the Cirrus family.” Rathbun was on a personal flight Friday afternoon when his Cirrus SR-22 went down near Bong Bridge in Duluth. He was dead at the scene.
Federal investigators are still looking into the cause of the crash.
