EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (KFGO) – Firefighters responded to a fire shortly after 5 p.m. Monday at the American Crystal Sugar plant in East Grand Forks. A pulp dryer was burning with fire extending to a dust-collecting mechanism known as a bag house.
Fire crews poured water on the blaze and started cooling the equipment down. American Crystal workers there were then able to open hatch doors to the equipment and put out the fire.
One employee had burns and was transported to the Altru Hospital emergency room. There’s no report on the extent of the worker’s injuries.
