TRONDHEIM, Norway – The Minnesota National Guard plans to broaden its State Partnership Program with Norway under a new agreement signed Wednesday in Northern Europe.
Adjutant General Shawn Manke said Minnesota’s relationship with Norway is “already mature” and this will expand coordination of military activities:
“Modernizations efforts focused on combined air operations and interoperability defense, including defense against cyber threats, information operations, combined land forces including the deployment of military forces in cold weather environments, and military assistance and support for disaster response,” Manke said.
Manke said they plan to continue annual exercises with the Norwegian Home Guard.
Minnesota has been a partner in the U.S.-Norwegian Reciprocal Troop Exchange, or NOREX, since 1973.
