BISMARCK, N.D. (KFGO) – Law enforcement officers across North Dakota handed out nearly 1,800 citations in the latest Click It or Ticket campaign.
Between Nov. 1 and Dec. 15, there were 1,782 tickets issued. 654 were seatbelt violations and 27 were child restraint citations.
There were 729 speeding tickets and 152 other traffic citations, such as disobeying traffic signals and equipment violations. 58 drivers were uninsured motorists, 58 had suspended or revoked licenses. 17 citations were issued for distracted driving.
During the campaign there were also 12 warrants served, one driving under the influence citation, and a drug arrest.
According to Safety Public Information Program Manager Lauren Wahlman, preliminary data for 2022 shows that nearly 65% of motor vehicle fatalities in North Dakota were not wearing a seatbelt.
