BISMARCK, N.D. (KFGO) – The former North Dakota Lieutenant Governor said he has no regrets about stepping away from that role.
Brent Sanford has served since 2017. Last month, he announced he was leaving, effective Jan. 2. He said he had been thinking about stepping away for several months, but Gov. Burgum asked him to stay and help develop the budget.
Sanford has been in public service 17 years – in city government in Watford City, as well as state government.
Does he have second thoughts about his decision?
“I’ve actually had even less second-thoughts than I thought I would,” Sanford said. “I think it’s just the 17 years having the Batphone. It feels good to decompress and be able to move forward.”
Sanford said he plans to “decompress” for a while before getting back to the private sector.
Burgum named Tammy Miller to succeed Sanford.
