(KFGO/KNFL) In its first home game in over a month, the Fargo Force won its fourth consecutive game with a 6-3 victory over Des Moines at Scheels Arena.
Joe Palodichuk had a pair of goals, including a short-handed tally to give the Force the lead for good at 4-3 in the 2nd period. Kyle Smolen and Mac Swanson each had a goal and an assist for Fargo.
Anton Castro earned the win in net for the Force with 17 saves. Fargo now holds a six point lead over Lincoln at the top of the USHL’s Western Conference standings.
The Force are without Verner Miettinen, Girts Silkalns, and Matej Marinov this weekend. All three are playing in the IIHF World Junior Championship in Nova Scotia.
Fargo and Des Moines continue their weekend series Friday and Saturday at Scheels Arena. Game time is 7:10 on Friday, 6:10 on Saturday. Both games can be heard on 101.9 JACK FM and jackfmfargo.com.
