VALLEY CITY, N.D. (KFGO) – A former substitute teacher and coach at Valley City Public Schools has been charged with sexual misconduct.
64-year-old Davy Zinke is facing two felonies, luring minors by computer and attempted solicitation of a minor.
The complaint filed by the Barnes County State’s Attorney says police were contacted by a high school student in April. She said Zinke and her had been communicating on Snapchat for nearly 900 consecutive days, beginning when she was 14. She told a police officer that Zinke sent her numerous pictures of his genitals. Zinke’s home was searched. Court documents supporting the charges say a recliner that Zinke was sitting in when he exposed himself was in the house.
Superintendent Josh Johnson says Zinke was hired as a substitute in Oct. 2014. He started as an assistant football coach two years later and was a junior high school wrestling coach in 2017. Information provided through an open records request from KFGO News indicated that he left the school district the same day the student was interviewed.
