WAHPETON, N.D. (KFGO) – A two-vehicle crash occurred Friday afternoon around 3:30 on Hwy 13, eastbound, approximately 6 miles west of Wahpeton, ND. A man operating a tractor, pulling a grass cutter, was traveling eastbound in the right lane of Hwy 13 and was struck from behind.
An SUV driven by Brandon Wahler, 43, was traveling eastbound behind the tractor. Wahler failed to see the tractor on the roadway and rear-ended the back of the tractor.
The driver of the tractor, Carl Althoff, 67, sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries and was transported via life-flight to the Sanford Hospital.
Wahler and the front passenger Amber Wahler, 42 of Wyndmere, ND, were uninjured.
A 5-year-old juvenile passenger in the SUV sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries in the crash and was transported via Wahpeton ambulance to the Sanford Hospital. A 9-year-old and 3-year-old boy were uninjured.
The eastbound lanes of Hwy 13 were shut down for approximately 3 hours to allow first responders to assist those involved in the crash and for law enforcement to investigate the crash.
This crash remains under investigation by the NDHP.
