FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (KFGO) – A man who shot the mother of his children in Pelican Rapids in April has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
36-year-old Phoutthasa Prathane of Warroad was sentenced after pleading guilty to attempted murder and burglary. A witness told police that Prathane was punching and kicking the victim and then shot her in both legs and lower stomach. She has recovered.
Prathane was arrested two days later in Redwood County, Minnesota during a pursuit. Prathane admitted to shooting the victim and said he purchased a different vehicle in Iowa.
He said he was on his way back to Pelican Rapids to kill the woman’s father when he was arrested.
