ST. PAUL, Minn. – A man from southeast Minnesota will spend six years in federal prison for impersonating a federal officer and possession of firearms as a felon.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Reyel Devon Simmons, 53, of Dodge Center admitted to pretending to be a Department of Homeland Security agent last August. Simmons claimed to be a federal agent and went by the name “Rey Reeves” on TikTok where he had more than 10,000 followers.
Authorities discovered a “go bag” with a Homeland Security logo that contained a Glock handgun, fake badge, and other items when Simmons was arrested.
Police also found a hidden safe room on his property, seven guns, silencers, an explosive detonating cord, body armor, and thousands of rounds of ammunition.
Because Simmons has a prior felony conviction in Colorado, he is prohibited under federal law, from possessing firearms, ammunition, or explosives at any time.
