ST. PAUL, Minn. – Minnesota DFL lawmakers are increasing their push for gun restrictions following the mass school shooting in Texas.
Sen. Patricia Torres Ray of Minneapolis spoke at a Capitol news conference, “demanding immediate action.”
DFL Rep. Carlos Mariani from Saint Paul is calling for passage of universal background checks and a “red flag” law. Mariani acknowledges that the measures likely won’t pass the Republican-controlled Senate, but vows to continue the fight.
House Minority Leader Kurt Daudt says Minnesota already has some of the nation’s strongest gun laws.
