MOORHEAD, Minn. (KFGO) – Two men are facing felony charges of firearms violations after their arrests in Moorhead.
Police said Red River Valley SWAT Team officers served a warrant as part of a drug investigation in the 900 block of 7th Avenue North and seized guns and ammunition.
Richard Torres, 35, was arrested during a traffic stop and found in possession of a stolen gun.
John Lopez, 24, was also arrested. Torres and Lopez are both from Moorhead.
Along with the RRV SWAT Team, the Moorhead Police Department was assisted by the Cass County Drug Task Force, and the Drug Enforcement Administration – Fargo, ND Office.
The arrests were the first in Moorhead since a mutual aid agreement was re-established with North Dakota law enforcement. A change in use-of-force training requirements in Minnesota forced the suspension of the agreement more than a year ago.
The investigation is ongoing.
