MOTT, N.D. (KFGO) – A man who lived in the Mott area in southwestern North Dakota was shot and killed by a Hettinger County sheriff’s deputy during a disturbance inside the Mott-Regent Public School building on Thursday afternoon.
The sheriff’s office says 34-year-old Jeffrie Glover Jr. refused to leave the building after the officer arrived and the encounter escalated into an assault on the deputy. Glover was shot by the deputy, who has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation by the state Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
Attorney General Drew Wrigley says the investigation is a priority for BCI. The deadly law enforcement-involved shooting is the first in Hettinger County’s 115 year history.
