ROSEMOUNT, Minn. – A new commander will be leading the Minnesota National Guard’s 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 34th Red Bull Infantry Division.
Army Colonel Timothy Kemp will relinquish command to Lieutenant Colonel Charles ‘Chip’ Rankin during a ceremony Saturday at 1 p.m. at the training center in Rosemount.
Rankin comes to the 1st Brigade Combat Team after a command with the 2nd Battalion, 135th Infantry based in Mankato. More than 52-hundred soldiers make up the Brigade’s combined arms, armor, cavalry, infantry, artillery, engineer, and brigade support battalions.
In his civilian career, Rankin is the superintendent of Minnewaska Area Schools.
