BISMARCK (KFGO) – North Dakota has kicked off a month-long speed limit and aggressive driving enforcement wave. “Obey the Sign or Pay the Fine” will run through May 23.
Last year, speeding and aggressive driving were a factor in more than 34% of fatal crashes in North Dakota.
“Be a good example to those around you, be aware of your surroundings by knowing the posted speed limit,” said Sargent County Sheriff Travis Paeper. “Increased speed or aggressive driving reduces every driver’s ability to negotiate curves or maneuver around obstacles,” said Paeper.
Crash fatalities so far this year are trending higher than previous years with 25. The campaign is part of the Vision Zero strategy to eliminate fatalities and serious injury crashes.
