POLK COUNTY, MINN. (KFGO) – The Polk County Sheriff’s Office says 9 cars of a 14 car BNSF train derailed near Highway 75 and County Road 252 north of Crookston shortly after 8 p.m. Monday.
When deputies arrived they found multiple train cars scattered along the tracks and a ditch. Several cars were leaking non-hazardous material that did not present any public safety concerns. There were no injuries.
Authorities are asking drivers on Highway 75 at the site to use caution as BNSF will be clearing the derailment and making track repairs. The cause is under investigation.
