MOORHEAD (KFGO) – A Moorhead man will spend about 30 years in prison for the stabbing death of a friend last April.
27-year-old Ethan Broad has pleaded guilty to second-degree intentional murder in the death of 19-year-old Dystynee Avery, who was living with Broad in his south Moorhead apartment. Broad admitted to hitting Avery on the head with a pipe during an argument, stabbing the woman and slashing her throat. He then dismembered her body in his garage and placed the remains in a dumpster.
Avery’s remains were later found in the Clay County landfill. Broad will be sentenced in February.
Three other people charged in the case, who are accused of lying to police and helping get rid of evidence, remain in jail pending further court action.
