GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Another casualty of COVID-19 is the Altru Hospital project in Grand Forks. The health system is putting further construction on hold to prioritize operational resources on the coronavirus pandemic.
Altru President Dr. Steven Weiser says they don’t know how the virus will impact the Grand Forks area, only that it will.
Altru broke ground on the new hospital in June 2019. The original seven-story building was projected to cost $305 million dollars. The project was later scaled back to five floors – before a sixth floor was added back into the mix.
Altru says construction will resume when deemed appropriate. Weiser says there will be a new hospital.
