Fargo, ND (kfgo)-- Five State Tournaments began in North Dakota yesterday in Minot, Grand Forks, Jamestown and Mandan. In the opening round of the State Class 'A' Baseball tourney going on at Mandan's Memorial Park it was Dickinson defeating Fargo North 10-3, Grand Forks Red River beat Bismarck St. Mary's 5-1, Grand Forks Central cruised past Bismarck Century 18-5 and Bismarck nipped West Fargo 4-2. The State Class B Baseball tournament saw warm and windy conditions at beautiful Jack Brown Stadium in Jamestown where Grafton beat Kindred/Richland 9-4, Hazen took down Thompson 10-3, Watford City beat Midkota 5-1 and Velva-Drake won 7-3 over Harvey-Wells County. The State Class A Girls Soccer Tournament is being held in Grand Forks. Opening round action had Shanley 4-1 winners over St. Mary's, Century defeated Grand Forks Red River 4-1, Fargo North won big over Bismarck 8-1, and Davies shutout Minot 2-0 The State Softball Tourney is in Minot. In the quarterfinals Class A division Minot Ryan defeated Shanley 5-2, Davies shutout Bismarck 4-0 and West Fargo blanked Century 2-0, while Dickinson won over Fargo North 8-5. The Class B Softball quarterfinals had Westhope over Grafton 19-8, Kindred defeated Stanley 13-3 and Central Cass took down Hankinson 19-3. Enderlin/Maple Valley was leading Watford City 7-2 when rain forced a delay. That game resumes today.
