(WNFL)- U-W Whitewater won its opening game in the NCAA Division-Three baseball tournament, with a 6-to-2 victory yesterday over Saint Norbert of De Pere. At a team dinner this week, Warhawks' coach John Vodenlich asked for a volunteer to start the opener of the Whitewater Regional. Fifth-year senior Brock Liston stepped forward, and he struck out seven in seven innings for the top-seeded Warhawks. Liston gave up two runs, both coming on a homer by Saint Norbert's Travis Mason. In the other two games at Whitewater yesterday, Concordia-Chicago topped U-W La Crosse 3-to-1, and Adrian crushed Heidelberg 8-1. Saint Norbert faces elimination this afternoon when it plays Heidelberg. La Crosse also has an elimination game against Whitewater. Adrian faces Concordia-Chicago tonight. At the Linfield Regional in Oregon, U-W Stevens Point edged Trinity of Texas late last night, 3-to-2, on an R-B-I double from Cody Hanke in the seventh inning. The fourth-seeded Pointers will face Cal Lutheran tonight.
