When Train performs on NBC's Today show this Friday, they'll have a new single to play.  The band has just released a brand-new track called "Angel in Blue Jeans," the first release from their new album, Bulletproof Picasso , due in September.  The band's label says the release date is September 23, while the band quotes a date of September 16.  This will be clarified shortly, we assume.

The new single starts off as a mournful ballad that sounds like it could be the soundtrack of a Western film, but then picks up and turns into a mid-tempo rock song with a steady beat and a catchy "whoa oh oh oh" hook.

Bulletproof Picasso is the follow-up to Train's hit 2012 album, California 37 , which produced the hits "Drive By" and "50 Ways to Say Goodbye."  "This entire album took a lot of blood, sweat and tears but we hope it will be looked at as our best to date," the band says in a statement. "'Angel' was the first song written for this one and we’re excited that it will lead the way to your ears and, hopefully, hearts."

The band has also announced their new drummer, who's replacing the departing Scott Underwood. Underwood exited the band last week after 20 years.  The new drummer's name is Drew Shoals , and he writes on Instagram, " I'm super excited to be playing drums now for the band !"

Train has also announced a series of shows they'll be doing around the album's release date.  Tickets go on sale June 13 at 10 a.m. local time. Here are the dates:
