GRAND FORKS (KFGO-AM) -- Parts of the northern Red River Valley got dumped on in a storm that also brought strong winds Monday night.
Two to five inches of rain fell, and wind gusts of 60-80 mph were reported along the Hwy 2 cooridor from Devils Lake to Grand Forks to Thief River Falls. A trailer was flipped over in Crookston and a lot of large trees and power lines were downed. The American Red Cross set up a shelter in Crookston after 4,000 homes lost power.
Larimore also saw a lot of tree damage.
Elswhere, a semi was blown over on US 281 north of Jamestown where winds were clocked at between 70 and 80 miles an hour. Strong thunderstorms knocked out power in the city of Carrington, and a wind gust of 70 mph also knocked down a barn near Carrington .
The National Weather Service says there were a couple of reports of funnel clouds, and a tornado touchdown in Eddy County, 16 northeast of Brantford.
