WEST FARGO, ND. (KFGO AM) -- West Fargo is looking at an ordinance that will allow fireworks to be lit in the city limits on the 4th of July and New Year's Eve.
It would also reduce the punishment for setting off fireworks from a misdemeanor to a citation.
It's an olive branch of sorts offered by law enforcement to relax rigorous enforcement of an ordinance that is disobeyed by many around those holidays.
The ordinance would also lessen the load and paperwork for police officers on holidays like the 4th of July and New Year's, when they tend to handle a higher volume of calls.
The proposed ordinance needs one more reading before being enacted.
