MOORHEAD, Minn. (KFGO-AM) - A former Moorhead City Council candidate is accused of registering to vote without being legally qualified. The Clay County attorney's office filed a complaint with the county auditor against Dan Bohmer.
Assistant Clay County Attorney Jenny Samarjsza says there’s an issue because when Bohmer registered to vote, he listed his home address as a house that's still under construction.
Bohmer tells KFGO News that the law is subject to interpretation. He says his legal residence should not be determined by where he sleeps.
Bohmer is not accused of a crime, and will not face a penalty if the complaint is upheld. Bohmer previously served one term on the city council. He withdrew as a candidate last week.
