Parents Nikki and Dave lost a child due to miscarriage in 2011. In 2013 they gave birth to Griffin. At 8 months he was brought into the Thief River Falls Hospital with cold like symptoms. By midnight he was transferred to Sanford Children's Hospital. He was diagnosed with Haemophilus influenza that caused him to get meningitis. He spent 29 days in Sanford Children's Hospital and was intubated twice. Doctors had to drain fluid from his head to release pressure on his brain. He is a true miracle of the Sanford Children's Hospital.
